How to Stream a Church Service to Facebook or YouTube Using Only Your Phone
Live streaming your church service does not require expensive cameras, video switchers, or a computer. With a smartphone you can broadcast directly to Facebook or YouTube in just a few minutes.
What You'll Need
Smartphone with a good camera
Stable Wi-Fi connection
Tripod or phone stand
Facebook Page or YouTube channel
(optional) External microphone for better audio
Step 1: Prepare Your Phone
Charge your phone fully.
Connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
Close unnecessary apps.
Enable Do Not Disturb mode to prevent calls and notifications from interrupting the stream.
Clean the camera lens and place the phone on a tripod.
STEP 2: The Livestream
Open the Facebook app.
Navigate to your church's Facebook Page.
Tap Create Post.
Select Live Video.
Enter a title and description.
Verify the camera view.
Tap Go Live.
Facebook will immediately begin broadcasting your service.
YouTube
Open the YouTube app.
Tap the + button.
Select Go Live.
Enter a title.
Choose whether the stream is public, unlisted, or private.
Verify the camera view.
Tap Go Live.
Note: YouTube may require channel verification and live-streaming access before your first mobile livestream.
Step 3: Monitor the Stream
During the service:
Occasionally check the viewer count and comments.
Verify that audio is still working correctly.
Avoid touching or moving the phone unnecessarily.
If possible, assign a volunteer to monitor the stream while the service is taking place.
STEP 4: End the Broadcast
When the service concludes:
Tap Finish or End Live Video.
Confirm that you want to stop the stream.
Wait for Facebook or YouTube to save the recording.
The recording will remain available for people who were unable to watch live. Facebook deletes the video after 30 days. YouTube will keep the video available without any time restriction
Tips on audio quality
Poor audio is one of the most common reasons viewers stop watching a livestream.
While your phone's built-in microphone works, it often captures:
Room echo
Audience conversations
Air conditioning noise
Sound reflections from walls
A wireless microphone produces much clearer speech.
Using a Boya Mini
Connect the Boya Mini receiver to your phone.
Turn on the transmitter.
Clip the transmitter to the preacher's shirt or jacket.
Place it approximately 15–20 cm below the speaker's mouth.
Verify that the microphone is connected before starting the stream.
Even an inexpensive wireless microphone can make a significant difference in how professional your livestream sounds.
Next Step: Add Bible Verses and Lyrics to Your Livestream
Once you have successfully streamed a few services and are confident that your video, audio, and internet connection are working reliably, consider adding Bible verses and song lyrics directly to your livestream.
Displaying verses and lyrics helps online viewers follow Scripture readings, worship songs, and sermon references.
The easiest way to do this is by using a Bible presenter that can publish subtitles directly to your stream.
